Two dead, one critical after consuming pesticide amid loan recovery pressure

Key Points:

• Three family members consume pesticide in Chandil subdivision

• Two women die, one man in critical condition after suicide attempt

• Financial stress from son’s failed investments leads to tragic incident

JAMSHEDPUR – A family’s desperate act in Chandil subdivision has left two dead and one critically injured following a suicide attempt triggered by financial pressure.

The incident occurred on October 2 in Brahmanand Aashiyana, under Kapali OP area.

Three family members consumed pesticide outside their residence.

Gyan Prakash Srivastava, his wife Sunita, and mother Krishna Kanti were rushed to Brahmanand Hospital.

Tragically, both women were pronounced dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, Gyan Prakash remains in critical condition.

The family’s ordeal stemmed from their son Anshu Srivastava’s financial misadventures.

Anshu had borrowed approximately ₹60-70 lakh from family and friends.

He promised returns through share market investments but lost all the money.

Consequently, creditors began pressuring the family for repayment.

Unable to cope, Anshu disappeared from the city.

This left his parents and grandmother to face relentless pressure from creditors.

The mounting stress ultimately led to their drastic decision.

Before the act, Gyan Prakash recorded a video taking full responsibility.

He absolved anyone else from blame for their actions.

The family originally hailed from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Local police have initiated an investigation into this tragic incident.

A neighbor remarked, "It’s heartbreaking to see a family driven to such desperation by financial troubles."
