RANCHI — Jharkhand’s Water and Sanitation Minister Yogendra Mahto stopped his official convoy at Chutupalu Valley on his way from Ranchi to Ramgarh after spotting a seriously injured woman and her son lying by the roadside following a road accident.
The minister noticed the two victims writhing in pain beside the highway. Without any delay, he ordered his motorcade to stop immediately.
Mahto, who also holds the portfolio of Excise and Prohibition, personally helped the injured duo into his convoy vehicles. He then escorted them to an emergency services hospital located near Saini Hotel in the area.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the minister directed the attending doctors to begin treatment without delay. He also personally enquired about the condition of the two victims from the medical staff.
Moreover, Mahto stayed at the facility long enough to ensure that the mother and son received adequate care. The timely intervention allowed both individuals to access medical attention promptly.
Meanwhile, locals and eyewitnesses at the scene praised the minister’s initiative. Several bystanders said a public representative’s duty was not limited to administrative responsibilities alone.
In addition, witnesses noted that a minister stopping his official convoy for accident victims was a rare and commendable act. People at the site appreciated that no time was wasted in getting the injured persons to a medical facility.
