Thieves Target Jamshedpur’s Ulidih: Mobile Phones, Jewelry Stolen

Residents to Form Night Patrols as Police Response Falters

Key Points:

• Five mobile phones and gold jewelry stolen in Kalindi Basti, Ulidih

• Police accused of inaction, giving fake contact number to complainant

• Local youth to form night patrols to combat rising crime

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Kalindi Basti in Ulidih take matters into their own hands after a series of thefts and alleged police inaction.

Thieves struck four houses in Kalindi Basti, Ulidih, last night.

They made off with five mobile phones and gold jewelry worth approximately ₹20,000.

The victims attempted to file a police report at Ulidih Police Station.

However, they were met with indifference and given a fake contact number.

Frustrated residents reached out to local BJP leader Vikas Singh for assistance.

Singh contacted the local police inspector, demanding action against illegal activities.

He called for the recovery of stolen items and a crackdown on daily lottery operations.

"The entire policing system has become paralyzed," Singh remarked.

He added that the poor are often ignored and easily targeted by criminals.

In response, Singh announced plans for youth-led night patrols in the neighborhood.

Residents will use torches, sticks, and whistles to deter potential thieves.

The stolen items included mobile phones belonging to Ganga Gop, Uday Gop, and Anil Gop.

Additionally, Saraswati Gop’s gold earrings and Sunita Kalindi’s two phones were taken.

Bluetooth devices, headphones, and chargers were also among the stolen goods.

Local residents expressed concern over the open sale of illegal substances in the area.

They claimed that previous complaints to the police had led to retaliation from drug peddlers.

The incident has highlighted the growing frustration with law enforcement in the community.

Residents hope the new night patrols will help curb criminal activities in Kalindi Basti.
