Tata Motors Alters Holiday Schedule, Plant Shut for 3 Days

Workers to report on Sunday, compensated with Monday off

Key Points:

• Tata Motors Jamshedpur plant closed Sept 30 – Oct 2

• Employees to work Sunday (Sept 29), off on Monday (Oct 1)

• Limited operations in vehicle factory during closure

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Motors has modified its holiday schedule, resulting in a three-day shutdown of its Jamshedpur plant from September 30 to October 2.

The company has requested employees to report for duty on Sunday, September 29.

In exchange, workers will receive a day off on Monday, October 1.

September 30 has been designated as a block closure day.

Meanwhile, October 2 marks Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday.

As a result, the Jamshedpur plant will cease operations for three consecutive days.

However, vehicle factory lines 1 and 2, along with vehicle preparation and dispatch departments, will function normally during the block closure.

In contrast, the foundry division will observe an additional block closure on September 28.

Employees called for duty during the block closure will be compensated with a day off later.

Moreover, casual leave and paid leave will not be granted during this period.

Workers will receive 50% of their wages during the block closure.

On the other hand, they will forfeit the remaining 50% of their pay.

This block closure arrangement is based on a prior agreement between management and workers.

Two separate circulars have been issued to communicate these changes.
