Workers to receive up to Rs 63,872, 325 temporary staff to be regularized

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur plant has declared a 10.6% annual bonus for its employees, with additional benefits for temporary workers and their families.

The bonus announcement comes as a welcome surprise for the workforce.

The average payout will be Rs 46,418, with a maximum of Rs 63,872.

A memorandum of settlement was signed by plant head Ravindra Kulkarni and union president Gurmeet Singh ‘Tote’.

The agreement covers both permanent and temporary workers.

In a significant move, 325 temporary workers will be regularized, surpassing the initial plan of 225.

This decision reflects the company’s commitment to its workforce.

New Opportunities for Employees’ Children

The agreement introduces initiatives for employees’ children.

Full-term apprenticeships will be offered, leading to diploma programs and potential permanent employment.

This move aims to secure a brighter future for the next generation of workers.

Around 116 trainees who completed skill training will enter the employment process.

They will be linked with a diploma program, opening doors for career advancement.

Union’s Role in Securing the Agreement

RK Singh, General Secretary, detailed the agreement’s provisions at a union meeting.

Union Advisor Praveen Singh emphasized their democratic approach to improving workers’ conditions.

President Gurmeet Singh attributed the success to worker unity and management trust.

He expressed confidence in the positive impact of including young workers.

Celebrations and Gratitude

Employees celebrated the announcement with a march and festivities.

Workers, especially those benefiting from regularization, expressed gratitude to union leaders.

Women employees joined the celebrations, thanking the union for securing their future.

The program concluded with wishes for upcoming festivals like Durga Puja and Diwali.
