Tata Steel Foundation Opens ITI Chandil in Jharkhand Under PPP Model

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Foundation, in partnership with the Government of Jharkhand, inaugurated its third Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Chandil under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

This marks the fourth ITI established by Tata Steel Foundation, following ITI Tamar (2012) and ITI Jagannathpur (2017).

These institutes have become benchmarks for vocational training and have facilitated placements both in India and internationally.

ITI Chandil will offer training in trades like Fitter, Welder, Advanced CNC, Tool and Die Maker, Machinist, and Mechanic E-Vehicle.

The inauguration was delayed until 2024, after receiving affiliation from the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).

Chief Guest Sabita Mahato, MLA Ichagarh, along with Tata Steel Foundation Director Chanakya Chaudhary and CEO Sourav Roy, attended the event.

Initially, the institute will admit 152 students, with plans to expand to 250 in the future.

In addition to long-term courses, ITI Chandil will offer short-term programs catering to industry needs.

The goal of the institute is to enhance the employability of Jharkhand’s youth, particularly in emerging sectors like electric vehicles and CNC manufacturing.

An official said, "This institute will provide hands-on training aligned with the latest technological advancements."

The ITI aims to contribute to regional socio-economic development by offering employable skills and reducing the skill gap in key industries.

It is expected to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation, supporting both local development and national industry demands.
