JAMSHEDPUR – The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the construction of an airport in Jamshedpur.
The Chamber highlighted the inconvenience caused by the lack of an airport during the PM’s recent visit.
In a letter to Modi, the business body emphasized the need for air connectivity in the industrial hub.
"Jamshedpur’s centenary milestone underscores the urgency for an airport," stated Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka.
He stressed that despite being Jharkhand’s economic capital, the city’s overall development has been hindered.
The absence of an airport affects various sectors, including business, healthcare, and education.
Addressing Economic Concerns
Chamber officials pointed out that the lack of air connectivity deters new investors.
This situation hampers the establishment of new businesses and industries in the region.
"The airport’s absence is blocking potential revenue streams and job creation," explained Vice President Puneet Kanvatia.
The organization has been persistently raising this issue with central ministries and officials.
Impact on Daily Life
The recent incident during PM Modi’s visit exemplified the problems faced due to inadequate air connectivity.
Adverse weather conditions forced the PM to travel by road from Ranchi, covering 130 kilometers.
"An airport would have prevented such logistical challenges," remarked Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia.
Students and patients often face difficulties in reaching other cities for education and medical treatment.
Call for Prime Ministerial Intervention
The Chamber has requested PM Modi to personally direct relevant ministries and officials.
They seek his intervention to remove obstacles in the proposed airport construction at Dhalbhumgarh.
"We urge the PM to pave the way for Jamshedpur’s air connectivity," said Chamber Secretary Suresh Sharma Lipu.
The business community believes this step will significantly boost the city’s growth and development.
