MEDININAGAR – On Republic Day, Nehru Yuva Kendra’s Palamu unit organized a district-level sports competition at the Sarna Sthal in Pokhara Kala. The event aimed to foster youth engagement in sports and commemorate the national day. Deputy Mayor Rakesh Singh inaugurated the program, paying homage to Swami Vivekananda’s image and lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Enthusiastic Participation Across Events

Youth aged 15 to 29 from various blocks of Palamu district competed in six events, including football, 400m race, long jump, kabaddi, 200m race, and skipping. Sadar Block claimed victory in both football and kabaddi, while individual winners like Karan Kumar (400m race) and Rupali Yadav (200m race) showcased their skills. The winners received mementos and certificates for their achievements.

Encouragement from Officials

Deputy Mayor Rakesh Singh encouraged the participants, emphasizing the role of sports in building resilience and career opportunities. “Sports inspire individuals to strive and succeed. Such events help identify and nurture talent,” he remarked.

Towards State-Level Representation

Kanchan Kumari, the district youth officer of Nehru Yuva Kendra, highlighted the significance of sports in promoting mental and physical well-being. “Sports instill self-esteem and channel positive energy,” she said. She also announced that the winning teams would represent Palamu at the upcoming state-level competition in Ranchi.

The event concluded with the distribution of sports materials among participants, reflecting a commitment to fostering sports culture in the region.
