SERAIKELA – A brutal home invasion in Bijaar village, Seraikela-Kharsawan district, resulted in the tragic deaths of a couple, sending shockwaves through the community.

Unidentified attackers, numbering four to five, stormed into the residence of Soma Singh Munda, 46, and his wife Sejadi Devi, 45, on Friday evening.

The assailants first disabled the exterior lighting before forcing their way inside.

Despite attempts by the couple to communicate, the intruders showed no mercy.

They fatally shot Soma Singh Munda and bludgeoned Sejadi Devi with a wooden stick when their firearm malfunctioned.

The couple’s 14-year-old son, Sanika Munda, managed to escape and find refuge at a neighbor’s house.

Kuchai Police Station Officer Narsingh Munda stated, "We are thoroughly investigating the incident and will solve the case soon."

The double homicide has instilled fear and uncertainty among Bijaar village residents.

Many gathered at the crime scene Saturday morning, seeking information from young Sanika about the terrifying ordeal.

The teenager recounted that the masked assailants struck between 7:30 and 8:00 PM on Friday night.

Family Background

The couple’s elder son, Sukhlal Munda, a college student in Ranchi, expressed shock at the tragedy.

He had spoken with his father just hours before the attack, unaware of the impending danger.

Sukhlal emphasized that the family had no known enemies, deepening the mystery surrounding the brutal killings.
