JAMSHEDPUR – Five juvenile inmates at Ghaghidih Correctional Home escaped on Tuesday night, causing panic among the staff.

The escape occurred around 2:00 AM when the juveniles, some accused of serious crimes like murder and rape, broke a window grill in their ward.

They then used a makeshift rope to scale the wall and flee the premises.

The escape was discovered during the routine morning count at 6:00 AM, revealing that five inmates were missing.

This led to immediate action by the management, who informed the Parsudih police.

Police conducted a thorough search throughout the day and managed to recapture four of the escapees.

However, one juvenile remains on the run, and efforts to locate him are ongoing.

The CCTV footage reviewed by authorities confirmed the method of escape and showed the inmates damaging property during their breakout.

Despite several incidents in recent months, including fights among inmates and previous escapes, no significant security measures have been implemented at the correctional facility.

In the past, similar escapes have occurred, with security being tightened temporarily before returning to its previous state.
