JAMSHEDPUR – The Prime Minister of India is scheduled to flag off 10 new Vande Bharat trains on September 15, 2024, further strengthening rail connectivity in Odisha.
Among the trains to be launched, the flagging off ceremonies will take place at Brahmapur and Rourkela stations, marking a significant milestone in Odisha’s railway infrastructure.
Odisha has seen a record allocation of ₹10,586 crores in the current budget for upgrading its railway infrastructure.
This funding will be used to develop 59 railway stations in the state into world-class facilities.
The launch of these Vande Bharat trains is part of the government’s commitment to modernizing train services in the region.
Currently, three Vande Bharat trains are already operating in Odisha.
The new trains include routes such as Tata-Brahmapur, Rourkela-Howrah, and Durg-Visakhapatnam, among others.
A senior official from the Railway Ministry stated, "These new Vande Bharat trains will significantly enhance connectivity and passenger experience in Odisha."
Invitation Sent to Odisha CM
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has extended an invitation to the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, to attend the flagging off ceremonies at either Brahmapur or Rourkela station.
This event is expected to witness participation from several dignitaries, reflecting the importance of the initiative in improving regional connectivity.
