Ulidih police accused of inaction in sexual harassment case
Daily wager woman being threatened, blackmailed while city police sits on her written complaint.
Jamshedpur: A woman resident of Ulidih police station area of Jamshedpur, who works as a daily wage laborer, has accused one Md. Rahmat, a mason, of sexually harassing her and blackmailing her in the name of releasing a video. She also accused him of forcing her to marry him.
The victim also alleged that the police have failed to take any action against the accused despite the fact that she has given a written submission to them.
When no action was taken even after a week, the victim woman, with the help of BJP leader Vikas Singh, demonstrated in front of the Ulidih police station Saturday and demanded strict action against the accused from the police.
She said that even after the written complaint, no action has been taken against the accused till now, while she continues to face threats and blackmailing from the accused.
The victim also accused the accused of blackmailing her in the name of making the video viral.
She said that she works as a daily wager and is married and lives with her husband and two children.
She alleged that Rahmat, who worked with her for a few days as a mason, was trying to exploit her sexually and was trying to force her to marry him and threatening to make her video viral. She said that she is unaware as to what kind of video he has or has already released.
She lodged a written complaint in the police station on July 21 last. However, no action has been taken till now.
On Saturday, she approached BJP leader Vikash Singh and then demonstrated in front of the police station.
Vikash Singh said that they would meet the SSP Prabhat Kumar tomorrow and demand action in the matter and if no action is forthcoming despite that they would take to streets for ensuring justice to a hapless woman who is being threatened by a man who is feeling emboldened due to police inaction.
