JAMSHEDPUR – Infighting within the Congress Party forced its state president to flee the stage in Jamshedpur on Monday.
Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, the Jharkhand Congress President, was in Jamshedpur as part of his tour across Kolhan to discuss strategies for the upcoming assembly elections.
As he reached the local Michael John Auditorium to consult with party workers, internal rivalries erupted.
Supporters of different leaders, including former MP Dr. Ajoy Kumar, District President Anand Bihari Dubey, Minister Banna Gupta, and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, began chanting slogans in support of their respective factions.
The situation escalated when party workers started clashing over seating arrangements on stage, forcing Kamlesh to leave the auditorium in frustration.
For half an hour, the venue resembled a battleground, with chaos reigning among the Congress members.
However, Dr. Ajoy Kumar managed to pacify Kamlesh, bringing him back to the stage to resume the event.
Kamlesh had earlier conducted similar meetings in Chaibasa and Seraikela before arriving in Jamshedpur.
The incident highlights ongoing factionalism within the state Congress, threatening to undermine their election preparations.
