Job Scam Exposed at Tata Steel; 42 Victims Cheated
FIR filed against four individuals, including Tinplate Company and Hospital employees.
Tata Steel’s management uncovered a job scam that defrauded 42 people between September 2023 and January 2024.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel has exposed a job scam in which 42 individuals were deceived into false employment offers at the company.
The scam, which spanned from September 2023 to January 2024, involved employees from Tinplate Company and Tinplate Hospital.
Tata Steel’s Area Manager of Brand Protection, Dhruvjyoti Saha, filed a named FIR at Bistupur police station against four suspects.
Those accused include Shubham Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, Mohammad Javed from Golmuri, Amarnath Gorai from Sakchi, and Arvind Sharma from Bhalubasa.
The FIR detailed how the accused duped the victims by providing fake employment documents and conducting fake medical exams at Tinplate Hospital.
The victims were housed in various hotels during the scam.
Tata Steel initiated an internal investigation after receiving complaints, leading to swift action against the culprits.
Police have begun their investigation into the matter.
Job scams have been a recurring issue in the region, with similar incidents reported at Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and other companies.
In a notable case in 2019, 52 people were defrauded in a job scam at Tata Steel’s Noamundi plant.
Another incident in 2019 led to the arrest of Jyoti Singh alias Vicky, who was later imprisoned for his role in a similar scam.
Authorities are urging people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious job offers.
