Jharkhand CM Links Covid Vaccine to Recruitment Deaths

Soren alleges ‘defective’ doses still causing fatalities; BJP rejects claims

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren stirs controversy by linking Covid-19 vaccine to recent deaths during constable recruitment tests.

RANCHI – Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has alleged that ‘defective’ Covid-19 vaccine doses administered during the pandemic may be responsible for recent deaths during constable recruitment physical tests.

Soren claimed that a globally banned vaccine was still being supplied and administered in India.

The CM’s remarks followed the deaths of 12 people during physical tests for an excise constable recruitment drive.

The state government halted the ongoing job drive for three days in response to the tragic incidents.

Soren suggested that vaccine-related issues could be one of the possible reasons for the deaths of young aspirants.

The Jharkhand BJP had previously blamed the JMM-led state government’s ‘mismanagement’ for the aspirants’ deaths.

During a government program, Soren transferred the first installment of Rs 1,000 to women beneficiaries under the JMMSY scheme.

The CM announced lowering the entry age for the JMMSY scheme from 21 years to 18 years.

Soren accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize his government since it came to power in 2019.

He also indirectly criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for alleged communal tensions and illegal immigration issues.
