New Delhi: India has reported yet another jump in Covid-19 cases with the country logging 6,050 new cases in the past 24 hours, as per the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday.
This jump comes just a day after the country recorded 5,300 cases, indicating a worrying trend of rising cases in the country.
With this increase, India’s active Covid-19 caseload has gone up to 28,303, which is a jump of nearly 2,716 cases.
The rise in cases has prompted Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya to convene a review meeting with the health ministers of all states and Union Territories today to take stock of the situation and review the measures being taken to control the spread of the virus.
On a positive note, the nationwide vaccination drive continues to make progress, with a total of 220.66 crore vaccine doses administered so far, including 95.21 crore second doses and 22.87 crore precautionary doses.
In the last 24 hours, 2,334 doses were administered across the country.
The recovery rate in India remains high at 98.75%, with 3,320 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,41,85,858.
The daily positivity rate is at 3.39%, while the weekly positivity rate is at 3.02%. A total of 92.25 crore tests have been conducted so far, including 1,78,533 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
The latest increase in Covid-19 cases is a reminder of the need for continued vigilance and adherence to Covid-appropriate behavior to keep the virus under control.
