SERAIKELA – Police arrested an extortion accused after a bank manager received threatening calls demanding money for jail-related expenses.
Police arrested the accused near Mango bus stand in Jamshedpur.
The operation followed technical tracking and local intelligence inputs.
Moreover, the accused identified himself as “Ravi Lohar” during the call.
He allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from the branch manager.
The call reached the manager on May 22.
Furthermore, the accused claimed imprisonment inside Seraikela jail.
He allegedly sought money for legal and bail expenses.
Afterwards, the branch manager approached KandRa police station.
Police registered a formal case following the complaint.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police ordered formation of a special investigation team.
Investigators later conducted raids near Mango bus stand.
Moreover, officers arrested 38-year-old Bunty Guha during the operation.
He originally belonged to Golpahari under Parsudih police station limits.
However, police said he currently stayed in western Kolkata.
Police also recovered one mobile phone from his possession.
Besides, officers said the accused confessed during questioning.

Furthermore, police revealed Bunty Guha carried several previous criminal cases.
Those cases included extortion, robbery, and Arms Act violations.
Additionally, investigators continued examining the accused’s previous activities.
