CAIT Launches Nationwide Membership Drive for Shopkeepers

Aims to enroll over one crore members by December 2024 for Rs 50 fee

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) announces a major membership campaign to unite shopkeepers across India, starting September 7.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has initiated a nationwide membership campaign with the objective of enrolling shopkeepers throughout India for a nominal fee of Rs 50.

The campaign was announced by CAIT Chairman Brijmohan Agarwal and other senior officials at a press conference.

In conjunction with Ganesh Chaturthi, the initiative will commence on September 7 and aim to enroll more than one crore members by December 31, 2024.

The campaign will be initiated by former Union Minister Smriti Irani, who is currently serving as CAIT’s National Advisor. She will be visiting key markets in Delhi.

The campaign was initiated as a result of the decisions taken during the National Executive meeting of CAIT in Nagpur on August 21-22.

CAIT’s objective is to consolidate the advocacy power of the organization and guarantee that small merchants receive the benefits of government initiatives.

The organization endeavors to reduce bureaucratic barriers by facilitating direct engagement between government officials and traders.

At the Zoom meeting that announced the initiative, prominent traders from Jharkhand, such as Sanghrakshak Bharat Bhasni and Kolhan in-charge Kishore Golchha, were present.

The campaign was endorsed by CAIT President B.C. Bhartia and General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal, who is also the Chandni Chowk MP.

The membership campaign is a substantial stride toward the organization of India’s extensive network of small traders and shopkeepers.

Giving a unified voice to millions of small business owners, this initiative has the potential to transform the landscape of merchant representation and advocacy in India.
