Mangalam City Main Gate Demolished: Society Members’ Opposition Halts Drive

Protests by Mangalam City residents halt drive against land encroachment led by Gamharia Zone Administration and CI Manoj Kumar.

JAMSHEDPUR – On a tense Thursday, the Gamharia Circle Administration of Seraikela-Kharsawan district initiated an anti-encroachment drive at Mangalam City, a high-profile society on Tata-Kandra main road. Their target: approximately 2.03 acres of encroached Jharkhand government land.

The mission, led by CI Manoj Kumar and supported by station in-charge Rajan Kumar and a team of officers, was met with resistance.

As bulldozers began demolishing the main entrance of Mangalam City, the residents rallied together to protest the operation.

The protest was strong enough that the drive was temporarily halted after the boundary wall on the right side was demolished.

Initially, the goal of this operation was to reclaim a total of 2.03 acres of land.

Yet, due to the halt, only 1.5 acres have been reclaimed so far.

The next steps remain uncertain.

Mangalam City is a posh society developed by renowned builder Saurabh Agarwal.

It houses hundreds of residential complexes, home to some of the region’s wealthiest residents. There have been allegations that the builder illicitly encroached on a government pond and sold it at a high price.

Interestingly, the builder was absent during the operation.

The residents’ pleas led to the administration pausing the anti-encroachment drive.
