Rajendra Vidyalaya Students Fail: Parents Protest Decision
79 students from classes 10-12 fail; demand for promotion sparks controversy
Rajendra Vidyalaya in Jamshedpur faces backlash as 79 students fail, leading to protests from parents and political representatives.
JAMSHEDPUR – Parents and political representatives protested at Rajendra Vidyalaya after 79 students from classes 10-12 failed their exams.
The protesters surrounded Principal Pyali Mukherjee’s office, demanding the promotion of failed students.
Parents alleged that students who took private tuitions were unfairly passed.
They also claimed that subject teachers were teaching other subjects, leading to poor performance.
The demonstrators requested that failed students be allowed to fill out forms and retake exams.
Principal Mukherjee questioned the appropriateness of promoting students from classes 6 to 12 without proper academic performance.
She mentioned that a re-examination was conducted for failed students following the SDO’s directive, but only 15 passed.
Mukherjee emphasized that the exam pattern was uniform for all students, and the results reflected individual weaknesses rather than school negligence.
The principal agreed to present the parents’ demands to the committee for further decision-making.
Some parents suggested that if students fail the retake, it would be the responsibility of the students and their guardians.
