Tata Steel Hosts Walkathon for National Sports Day 2024

Over 700 participants join event at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur

A Walkathon organized by Tata Steel’s Sports Department drew over 700 participants to celebrate National Sports Day 2024 at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Sports Department organized a Walkathon at JRD Tata Sports Complex, attracting over 700 participants across various age groups to commemorate National Sports Day 2024.

The event was inaugurated by Mukesh Agarwal, Chief HRBP Steel, Tata Steel Jamshedpur, along with other distinguished guests.

Participants competed in distances ranging from 800 meters to 2.4 kilometres, based on their age categories.

Both men’s and women’s categories were included, ensuring broad participation and inclusivity.

The enthusiasm of the participants was evident as they traversed the paths within the sports complex.

Top performers in each category received recognition for their dedication to health and fitness.

Olympian Purnima Mahato, Bhajan Kaur, and Ankita Bhagat were among the notable guests present at the event.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, Chairman of the Sports Advisory Committee, also graced the occasion.

The organizing committee members from the Sports Department, including Sanjeev Kumar, Ananya Lepii, and others, were present throughout the event.

"This Walkathon serves as a reminder of the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle," stated a representative from Tata Steel.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to promoting physical fitness and community well-being through such initiatives.

The event’s success highlighted the community’s interest in fitness activities and sports.
