Patratu Dam Opens Gate as Water Level Reaches Critical Point

Authorities issue alert to nearby residents as excess water is released from dam

Continuous rainfall causes Patratu Dam’s water level to rise, prompting officials to open a gate for controlled release.

RAMGARH – Gate number three was opened by the Patratu Dam management on Thursday morning to address the increasing water levels that have resulted from the ongoing rainfall.

The water level in Patratu Dam on the Nalkari River exceeded 1328 RL, which required the opening of one of its eight gates.

At 6:50 a.m., gate number three was opened by 3 inches in order to alleviate excess water.

The administration has issued an alert to the residents in the vicinity as a result of the elevated water flow.

The Nalkari River’s discharge has increased as a result of the water release from the Patratu Thermal Power Station (PTPS) Dam.

The Damodar River’s water level rises to Rajrappa as a result of this increase in water flow.

Naveen Kumar, the Estate Officer of Rest Asset, PTPS Patratu, is spearheading initiatives to alert individuals to the potential hazards.

Authorities are issuing notifications that encourage individuals and animals to refrain from congregating on the margins of the Nalkari and Damodar rivers.

The dam’s catchment area has been filled as a result of the ongoing rainfall and the continuous discharge from the Nalkari and Ghaghra rivers.

A preventive measure to prevent flooding in the region is the controlled discharge of water.
