JAMSHEDPUR – Doctors at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) participated in the nationwide doctors’ strike by wearing black ribbons, demonstrating solidarity with the medical community following a tragic incident in Kolkata.
TMH expressed condolences to the victim’s family and support for enhanced safety measures for doctors.
The hospital maintained its OPD services, prioritizing patient care despite the protest.
TMH doctors joined the evening procession organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
Meanwhile, the nationwide strike, called by the IMA, has affected healthcare services across India for 24 hours.
Routine OPD services and elective surgeries are suspended in many hospitals nationwide.
Emergency services remain functional to ensure critical care availability.
The Health Ministry has requested doctors to resume duties and promised to establish a committee for healthcare professionals’ safety.
Major hospitals in Delhi, including AIIMS, have suspended OPD services as part of the protest.
Jharkhand’s government and private hospitals are participating in the strike, with a planned march in Ranchi.
Protests are ongoing in various forms across different states, including Chennai, West Bengal, and Bengaluru.
A doctor said that the strike highlights the medical community’s demand for improved safety and swift justice.
