BARC Director Delivers Enlightening Lecture at Jamshedpur Women’s University
Dr. D. Aswal dispels radiation myths, highlights nuclear energy benefits
Jamshedpur Women’s University hosted an informative lecture by BARC’s Health Safety and Environment Group Director.
JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. D. Aswal from Bhabha Atomic Research Center delivered a lecture at Jamshedpur Women’s University, addressing misconceptions about radiation and nuclear energy.
The event was welcomed by Registrar Shri Rajendra Kumar Jaiswal.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta presented Dr. Aswal with a plant and a symbolic gift.
Prof. Gupta emphasized the importance of exposing female students to BARC’s work environment.
The possibility of a future MoU between the university and BARC was suggested to benefit students.
Dr. Aswal clarified that not all radiation is harmful, explaining the prevalence of gamma rays in the environment.
He praised nuclear energy as the cleanest form of energy, citing its lack of CO2 emissions.
The lecture highlighted BARC’s significant contributions to advancing scientific knowledge in India.
Students engaged in a Q&A session, with study materials distributed afterwards.
Development Officer Dr. Salomi Kujur delivered the vote of thanks.
The event was attended by scientists, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty, and students.
