A joke turned violent in Jamshedpur’s Burmamines, leaving two men injured in a knife attack.
JAMSHEDPUR – A violent altercation broke out in Jamshedpur’s Burmamines area on Wednesday night, resulting in two men, Rakeeb and Sadiq, being injured in a knife attack.
The incident occurred in the Carriage Colony Muslim Basti, where a youth named Chandu, along with three accomplices, attacked Rakeeb and Sadiq after being called a "shoe thief" in jest.
Rakeeb suffered a severe injury to his neck, while Sadiq sustained a deep wound to his ear.
The attackers fled the scene, issuing death threats before escaping.
Family members rushed the injured men to the Burmamines police station, where they reported the incident.
The police then facilitated their treatment at MGM Hospital.
Rakeeb recounted that the altercation began at a local salon when he jokingly called Chandu a "shoe thief."
Chandu returned later with three others and assaulted Rakeeb and Sadiq with a knife.
The police are investigating the matter and are actively searching for the attackers.
