NIRF 2024: IISc Bengaluru Tops University Rankings Again

JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia secure second and third positions respectively

The Ministry of Education’s NIRF 2024 reveals top educational institutions across various categories, with notable changes in evaluation criteria.

JAMSHEDPUR – The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 results have been unveiled, showcasing India’s premier educational establishments in diverse disciplines.

Revamped Evaluation Process

The NIRF 2024 introduced significant modifications to its assessment methodology:

1. Medical institutes: Faculty-to-student ratio adjusted from 1:15 to 1:10

2. State government universities: Ratio increased from 1:15 to 1:20

3. Participation surge: 10,885 institutions involved, nearly doubling from 5,543 in 2023

4. New categories: State public universities, open universities, and skill universities added

Top Performers Across Categories

Universities:

1. Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru

2. Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi

3. Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi

Dr. Ramesh Sharma, education expert, commented: "The NIRF 2024 rankings reflect the evolving landscape of Indian higher education, with traditional powerhouses maintaining their dominance while new entrants show promising growth."

XLRI Jamshedpur has been given the 9th position.

Medical and Dental Excellence

Top Medical Colleges:

1. AIIMS, New Delhi

2. PGIMER, Chandigarh

3. Christian Medical College, Vellore

Dental Colleges:

– Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai, maintains its lead

– Manipal College of Dental Sciences secures second position

– Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi, claims third spot

State Universities Shine

In the newly introduced state public universities category:

1. Anna University, Chennai

2. Jadavpur University, Kolkata

3. Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune

College Rankings Shuffle

Delhi University colleges dominate the top 10 list:

1. Hindu College (previously ranked 2nd)

2. Miranda House (previously ranked 1st)

3. St. Stephen’s College
