Judiciary Issues Show-Cause Notice to Azadnagar Police OC

Court demands explanation for failure to produce key witnesses in 2017 Arms Act case

The Additional District Judge-2 has issued a show-cause notice to Azadnagar police station in-charge over repeated failures to present key witnesses in a 2017 Arms Act case.

JAMSHEDPUR – Additional District Judge-2 Aabhas Verma has issued a show-cause notice to the Azadnagar police station in-charge for failing to produce key witnesses in a 2017 Arms Act case.

The case stems from a raid conducted on October 13, 2017, at the residence of Mohammad Razzaq in Road No. 6, House No. 17.

Then-Azadnagar police station in-charge Anjani Kumar Tiwari led the operation based on secret information.

An allegedly illegal country-made pistol was recovered during the raid, resulting in an FIR against Razzaq.

While several witness testimonies have been recorded, the case remains incomplete without statements from the seizure list witness and the surgeon major.

The court’s frustration has grown due to the police’s repeated failure to present these crucial witnesses, despite multiple directives.

A High Court mandate places the responsibility of witness presentation on the respective police station in-charge.

The show-cause notice demands an explanation for the non-compliance with court orders and the High Court directive.

This development highlights the increasing tension between the judiciary and law enforcement in this long-standing case.

The court’s action underscores its serious view of the matter and the importance of timely witness presentation in legal proceedings.
