School Vehicle Safety Crackdown: 17 Fined, 3 Seized in Jamshedpur

Transport Department Intensifies Inspections to Ensure Student Safety

Jamshedpur authorities conduct rigorous checks on school vehicles, resulting in fines and seizures for non-compliance with safety standards.

JAMSHEDPUR – The local transport department launched a comprehensive inspection of school vehicles, focusing on safety measures and regulatory compliance.

Motor Vehicle Inspector Suraj Hembram led a thorough examination of 37 school vehicles near Garamanala Chowk in Sakchi.

The inspection targeted various types of school transportation, including buses, autos, vans, and magic vehicles.

Authorities discovered multiple violations during the checks, resulting in fines for 17 vehicles.

Three vehicles were seized for failing to meet the required safety standards.

Hembram emphasized the critical importance of adhering to safety regulations in school transportation.

He urged school operators across the district to prioritize compliance with these essential standards.

Parents were encouraged to actively participate in ensuring their children’s safety during school commutes.

"We advise parents to verify the installation of gas kits, check document validity, and ensure all safety parameters are met," Hembram stated.

He also stressed the importance of adhering to vehicle capacity limits to prevent overcrowding.

Parents were instructed to report any observed violations to both school management and the transport department.

Hembram issued a stern warning, saying, "The transport department will not allow unfit school vehicles to operate on the roads."

The inspection team included newly appointed motor vehicle inspectors Nishant Kumar Mahato and Ishwar Lal Sahu, along with other department staff.

This campaign aligns with directives from the state’s joint transport commissioner for continuous monitoring of school vehicle certifications.

The intensified checks were prompted by reports of non-compliant vehicles being used for school transportation.

Authorities are committed to ongoing inspections to ensure all school vehicles in the district meet fitness and registration requirements.
