Filaria prevention campaign launched in West Singhbhum to distribute medication.
Over 1.5 million residents of West Singhbhum will receive filaria prevention medication between August 10 and 25 as part of a widespread campaign.
CHAIBASA – Over 1.5 million residents of West Singhbhum will receive filaria prevention medication between August 10 and 25 as part of a widespread campaign.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal and District VBD Officer Dr. Meena Kalundia flagged off awareness vehicles from the Chaibasa Sadar Hospital campus.
These vehicles will travel through all 18 blocks and 15 CHC levels in the district, spreading awareness and encouraging people to take the filaria prevention medicine.
On August 10, DEC, Albendazole, and Ivermectin will be administered at booths throughout the district.
All preparations have been completed by the health department for the campaign.
Dr. Sahir Pal emphasized that filaria parasites take a long time to show symptoms, making early detection difficult and treatment impossible once the disease progresses.
He urged all district residents to take the medication to prevent this dangerous disease.
Dr. Meena Kalundia informed journalists that 2,509 booths and 5,017 trained drug administrators have been arranged for the campaign.
481 supervisors will ensure that the medication is administered to people in their homes free of charge.
She also noted that children under one year old, pregnant women, and severely ill individuals should not take the medication.
Dr. Kalundia advised against taking the medicine on an empty stomach and assured that 16 trained rapid response teams are ready to provide immediate treatment if any side effects occur.
