Sudden Downpour Floods Jamshedpur, Sakchi Hit Hard

Heavy Afternoon Rain Causes Widespread Disruption

Jamshedpur experiences unexpected deluge, with Sakchi area bearing the brunt of severe waterlogging and traffic chaos during Wednesday’s intense rainfall.

JAMSHEDPUR – An abrupt weather shift on Wednesday afternoon left the city grappling with flooding and traffic snarls, particularly in the Sakchi area.

The local meteorological office recorded a staggering 28.8 mm of rainfall between 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM, a stark contrast to the mere 1.5 mm registered earlier in the day.

The sudden downpour caught residents off guard, transforming Sakchi’s streets into temporary waterways.

"It was like someone turned on a giant tap," remarked Rajesh Kulkarni, a local shopkeeper in Sakchi.

Businesses in the area suffered significant losses as floodwaters inundated shops and market stalls.

Many commuters found themselves stranded, wading through knee-deep water to reach their destinations.

"I’ve never seen Sakchi roads turn into rivers so quickly," said Mohit Singh, a resident caught in the deluge.

The city’s drainage system struggled to cope with the intense rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging.

Local authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains.

Emergency services remain on high alert to address weather-related issues promptly.

The meteorological department has forecasted more showers later in the week, advising citizens to stay updated with weather reports.

This incident has reignited discussions about the need for improved urban infrastructure to handle such extreme weather events.
