Assam CM Sarma Blocked from Visiting Gopinathpur in Pakur, Jharkhand

Claims Prevention Due to Security Concerns, Meets Tribal Students

Assam CM alleges Jharkhand govt blocked Gopinathpur visit. Meets tribal students, demands probe into recent clash. BJP accuses state of appeasing infiltrators, changing demography.

RANCHI – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, serving as BJP co-incharge for Jharkhand assembly polls, claims he was prevented from visiting Gopinathpur village in Pakur district during his two-day state visit.

Sarma expressed concern over the situation, suggesting it reflects poorly on the state of common citizens if a Chief Minister faces such restrictions.

The Assam CM visited KKM College hostel in Pakur, meeting tribal students involved in a recent clash with police.

He appealed for proper treatment of the injured and demanded an investigation into the incident.

Pakur’s Sub-Divisional Officer Pravin Kerketta cited security reasons for restricting Sarma’s Gopinathpur visit but allowed other party engagements.

Jharkhand BJP President criticized Chief Minister Hemant Soren, alleging preferential treatment for Bangladeshi infiltrators over Indian citizens.

Sarma later visited Gaibathan village, meeting tribals involved in a land dispute clash.

He announced financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to affected individuals for legal and medical expenses.

The Assam CM alleged demographic changes in Santhal Pargana, claiming tribal lands were being forcefully occupied due to the state government’s appeasement politics.

"Intruders in Gaibathan have terrorized tribal families and seized their lands," Sarma posted on social media, promising to revisit Gopinathpur in the future.

Sarma plans to brief Jharkhand’s governor and Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation in Pakur and Santhal Pargana, describing it as "serious."
