MP Seeks NH Extensions, Underpass Construction and Bridge Projects for Jamshedpur Region

Key Points:

  • Bidyut Baran Mahato meets Union Road Minister for infrastructure proposals
  • New highway route proposed from Paridih to Bankura via Patmada
  • Central Road Infrastructure Fund sought for five road construction projects

JAMSHEDPUR – Member of Parliament Bidyut Baran Mahato met Union Road and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to submit multiple memorandums for road development projects in Jamshedpur constituency.

The MP proposed a new highway near NH-33. The route would connect Paridih Kali Temple to Bankura. Moreover, it would pass through Patmada, Katin, Bandhwan and Jhilmili.

This corridor would strengthen connectivity between Jamshedpur and Durgapur Steel City. Furthermore, it would improve road transport facilities. The project aims to enhance movement between Tata Steel facilities.

Mahato suggested extending NH-220 from Chaibasa-Hata to Bombay Chouki. Currently, NH-220 extends only till Hata. However, regional development demands further expansion.

The proposed extension would pass through Jadugoda, Musabani and Gudabanda. In addition, it would reach Bombay Chowk in Odisha. The route would connect seamlessly with NH-18.

The MP submitted five road construction proposals under Central Road Infrastructure Fund. The first project involves building a road from NH-6 Kalyadinga to NH-6 Jagannathpur. Moreover, it would pass through Chitreshwar, Rangunia and Kumhardubi.

The second proposal covers Maheshpur to Odisha border route. Besides, it includes Jyoti Pahari Puliya, Jambani and Angarapada. The path would extend through Makdi and Baliyajudi.

The third project proposes construction from Beltand Chowk to West Bengal border. On the other hand, it would cover Kultand, Chudda and Basgad. The route includes Lachchhipur and Mukrudih areas.

Mahato requested a bridge over Subarnarekha River at Bamdol Ghat. This structure would improve connectivity with Odisha. Furthermore, it would facilitate interstate transportation.

The fifth proposal involves Dhalbbhumgarh-Narsinghgarh route construction. Meanwhile, it covers Bhairavpur, Chhodiya and Chabbisa areas. The path extends through Dharasai and reaches Musabani-Dumria main road.

The MP highlighted urgent underpass construction requirements at accident-prone locations. Three critical spots need immediate attention. Ghatshila‘s Fuldungri experiences frequent accidents due to heavy traffic.

Tenders for Fuldungri underpass have been completed. However, construction work has not commenced. Local residents face growing concerns about safety.

Baharagora‘s PWD Chowk near Om Hotel Crossing requires an underpass. The interstate bus stand location witnesses numerous accidents. Besides, pedestrians face difficulties crossing roads.

Khandamauda on NH-6 needs infrastructure improvement. Dense population exists on both sides. In addition, schools and colleges create heavy pedestrian movement.

Students face crossing difficulties at this location. Moreover, daily accidents occur frequently. An underpass or overbridge would resolve these problems.

Gadkari approved Mahato’s proposals during the meeting. Furthermore, he directed officials to prepare project reports. The minister emphasized accelerating ongoing works at Khandamauda, Kalyadinga and Fuldungri.

The Union Minister addressed Bamdol bridge construction separately. He stated that state government needs to submit estimates. Besides, a formal proposal remains pending from state authorities.

The MP’s infrastructure initiatives continue addressing regional development needs. Previous meetings focused on road safety concerns in the constituency. Meanwhile, the elevated corridor project on NH-33 has commenced construction. The Rs 936.26 crore corridor represents significant infrastructure investment in the region.
