JAMSHEDPUR – After a significant accident near Badabamboo in Jharkhand’s Saraikela-Kharsawan district, South Eastern Railway officials are attempting to restore train services on the main arterial line that connects Eastern and Western India in a race against time.
Within 42 hours of the incident, the destroyed coaches were removed from the accident site.
Teams are operating continuously to restore overhead electric cables that have fractured and tracks that have been damaged.
An anonymous senior railway official conveyed optimism regarding the resumption of service by Thursday.
"We anticipate that trial runs on the route may commence by Thursday morning," the official stated.
The third line has been proclaimed operational, with a primary focus on official inspections and goods trains.
On July 31, engineers and senior officials embarked on a cargo train to perform safety inspections.
18 carriages were affected by the Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailment that took place early Tuesday morning.
In the tragic incident, two fatalities and 20 injuries were reported.
The families of the deceased will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh from the Union Government.
