Jugsalai MLA Pushes for Weir Construction to Ensure Clean Water Supply
MLA Mangal Kalindi meets Water Resources Minister Champai Soren, stressing the need for a weir on Kharkai River.
Acting to resolve the dirty water supply issue, Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi has emphasized the necessity of constructing a weir at the Jugsalai Municipal Council’s intake well.
JAMSHEDPUR – Mangal Kalindi, the Member of Legislative Assembly of Jugsalai, emphasized the necessity of a weir on the Kharkai River to guarantee a pure water supply.
The MLA conferred with Water Resources Minister Champai Soren and submitted a memorandum that emphasized the issue.
Kalindi noted that the Jugsalai Municipal Council area is densely populated and heavily dependent on the intake well for household water supply.
The intake well has been the source of filthy water for several days.
The Kharkai River’s low water level and industrial pollution by UCIL have resulted in the intake of contaminated water, according to department officials.
The health hazards associated with this contaminated water supply are numerous.
This matter could be resolved by constructing a weir on the Kharkai River.
Kalindi requested that the minister direct the relevant officials to construct the weir in the public interest.
The MLA also demanded immediate action on the weir construction during the Zero Hour session of the assembly.
This is essential for addressing the water supply issues that the residents of Jugsalai are experiencing.
Kalindi also expressed concerns regarding substantial irregularities in the Govindpur water supply scheme.
He requested an investigation to ensure that water is distributed properly and to penalize those who have committed any malfeasance.
