Breast Cancer Awareness Sessions Sweep Tata Steel Mining Areas

Over 500 attend informative meetings in Joda and Noamundi

Tata Steel’s mining division and Tata Trusts collaborate to educate employees and community members about breast cancer prevention and early detection in Jharkhand and Odisha.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Ore, Mines & Quarries Division partners with Tata Trusts to conduct breast cancer awareness sessions in Noamundi and Joda.

The awareness campaign, held on Friday, saw a significant turnout of more than 500 participants, including Tata Steel employees, contract workers, and local community members.

Dr. Vinita Singh, General Manager (designate) of Medical Services at Tata Steel, Jamshedpur, led the sessions alongside Dr. Amitabh Kumar Upadhyay, Consultant and In-Charge of Medical Oncology at Tata Main Hospital.

Dr. Upadhyay emphasized the crucial role of awareness in fighting breast cancer, stressing the importance of early detection for improved treatment outcomes.

He urged women to prioritize regular screenings and self-examinations as part of their healthcare routine.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Singh reiterated the significance of regular health check-ups in early cancer detection.

The sessions aimed to equip attendees with knowledge about breast cancer symptoms, early detection methods, and available treatment options.

Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager (OMQ) of Tata Steel, and Dr. Dhirendra Kumar, Chief Medical Officer (OMQ), were among the notable attendees at the Noamundi session.

This initiative underscores Tata Steel’s commitment to promoting health and wellness among its workforce and the broader community in its operational areas.

The company’s proactive approach to healthcare awareness demonstrates its dedication to the well-being of employees and local residents alike.
