Male Patient Found with Uterus and Fallopian Tubes in Jamshedpur

Rare medical case in Jamshedpur: 27-year-old man found with fully developed uterus and fallopian tubes; surgery performed under Ayushman Yojana.

Jamshedpur – In a rare medical case, a 27-year-old man, Ranjan Pramanik, from Burudih village in Seraikela district, was found to have a fully developed uterus and fallopian tubes in his stomach.

Pramanik visited Ganga Memorial Hospital for treatment after experiencing stomach pain.

Upon examination, doctors initially discovered an inguinal hernia. 

During the operation, surgeons were surprised to find a fully developed uterus and fallopian tubes in Pramanik’s abdomen.

Dr. Manjula Srivastava, a specialist in women and obstetrics, was called in to assist with the surgery.

The medical condition is known as Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS).

The surgery, which lasted about one and a half hours, was performed by surgeon Dr. Nagendra Singh, obstetrician Dr. Manjula Srivastava, and anesthesiologist Dr. Rudra Pratap.

The patient has now recovered from the procedure.

The hernia surgery and uterus removal were performed free of cost under the Ayushman Yojana at Ganga Hospital, as Pramanik, a laborer, was financially disadvantaged.

He had been living with the condition for years but was unable to afford treatment.
