JAMSHEDPUR – Local court questions police efficiency as witnesses fail to appear in a high-profile assault case hearing.
The ADJ-2 court, presided over by Aabhas Verma, has issued a show-cause notice to the Golmuri police station in-charge.
The notice comes after witnesses failed to appear for testimony in the Anurag Mishra assault case, despite a court order for their production.
"It is the police’s responsibility to ensure witness attendance," emphasized Judge Verma during Friday’s hearing.
The case involves allegations of a violent altercation between Anurag Mishra and his neighbor, M Singh.
Mishra claims he was verbally abused and physically assaulted by Singh, his daughters, and others in Vikas Colony.
"I was strangled with intent to kill when I tried to understand the reason for their abuse," Mishra reportedly told the court.
The incident also resulted in injuries to Mishra’s brother-in-law, Chandan Kumar, who attempted to intervene.
M Singh and B Rai stand accused in this case of assault and attempted murder.
