JAMSHEDPUR – The district administration has ordered closure of all schools from nursery to class 12 on January 5-6 following a cold wave warning from the India Meteorological Department.
Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The directive applies to all government, minority, and private schools in Jamshedpur district. Teaching activities will remain suspended during this period.
However, schools with scheduled examinations can conduct tests at their discretion. The administration has directed all school managements to ensure strict compliance. They must follow the guidelines without deviation.
On the other hand, government schools will remain open on January 6 for staff members. Teachers and non-teaching staff must mark their attendance on eVV system. Moreover, they will complete non-academic administrative tasks during this period.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast severe cold conditions. Minimum temperatures are expected to drop significantly. In addition, a cold wave warning has been issued for the coming days.
School managements across the district received official communication. The order ensures student safety during extreme weather. Besides, authorities will monitor compliance across all educational institutions.
Private and minority schools must also adhere to the closure directive. Teaching staff can utilize the period for preparation work. Furthermore, the administration may extend the order if conditions worsen.
The district has experienced declining temperatures in recent weeks. Similar measures were implemented in Ranchi earlier this month. Meanwhile, other districts across Jharkhand may follow suit.
Parents have been advised to keep children indoors. The administration prioritizes student welfare during harsh weather. In contrast, examination schedules remain flexible for schools.
Officials continue monitoring meteorological updates closely. The decision reflects proactive measures against cold conditions. Cloud cover patterns will determine further actions.
Educational institutions must display the closure notice prominently. Compliance reports will be reviewed by authorities. Winter safety measures remain in effect district-wide.
