NEW DELHI – Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto has been honoured with the prestigious Sansad Ratna Award for the fifth consecutive time. However, the recognition has sparked celebration among BJP workers back home.
The award ceremony was held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre on Thursday. Meanwhile, BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar president Sanjeev Sinha expressed happiness over the honour.
Sinha congratulated the MP and extended his wishes. He said winning the award five times running is a matter of pride for the city.
According to Sinha, Mahto has prioritized public welfare issues throughout his 12-year parliamentary tenure. He said the MP consistently raised matters concerning Jamshedpur and the state.
Besides raising local issues, Mahto has remained active on development, infrastructure and employment matters. Sinha said he has also engaged on railways, roads, industry and public amenities.
Sinha called the award direct proof of the MP’s parliamentary participation and vision. He said Mahto’s personal effort reflects the trust placed in him by Jamshedpur’s residents.
In addition, Sinha expressed confidence the MP would continue working toward the city’s development. BJP Jamshedpur media in-charge Prem Jha also welcomed the honour.
Jha said the award reflects the MP’s tireless work and parliamentary performance. He said Mahto has consistently raised issues concerning Jamshedpur and Jharkhand in Parliament.
Jha said the MP built a distinct identity through questions, raising key issues, and active participation in policy debates. He called the achievement a matter of pride for the city.
Moreover, Jha said winning the award five consecutive times proves Mahto’s effectiveness. He said it reflects his role in voicing public concerns in Parliament.
The Sansad Ratna Award was instituted in 2010 by the Prime Point Foundation and e-magazine PRESENCE. Former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam had suggested the initiative.
The award recognizes MPs for outstanding parliamentary contributions and public service. This year, 10 Lok Sabha MPs, 2 Rajya Sabha MPs and 4 parliamentary standing committees received the honour.
The recognition comes as Mahto has remained active on regional infrastructure matters recently. He raised the Dhalbhumgarh airport issue with the Union minister, a matter also flagged separately by another MP seeking early clearance for the project.
