BJP Demands Fair Probe, Withdrawal of Cases against Students

HAZARIBAG – Former Jharkhand chief minister and BJP leader Raghubar Das led a large protest in Hazaribag on Monday against alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations.
The demonstration was part of a wider BJP agitation across Jharkhand. Party workers gheraoed deputy commissioner and superintendent of police offices in several districts that day.
Students, youths and BJP workers turned out in large numbers in Hazaribag. They raised slogans against the state government during the protest.
Protesters demanded a fair investigation into alleged irregularities in the exams. Moreover, they demanded that cases filed against students during earlier agitations be withdrawn.
Addressing the media, Das targeted the state’s coalition government sharply. He alleged that recruitments were cancelled to suppress and confuse the student movement.
“Small players are being punished while the bigger names are being shielded,” Das said of the alleged irregularities. He questioned why the matter was not being handed to the CBI.
Das argued that only a fair investigation could bring out the truth of the case. Besides the state government, he also named Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his criticism.
He accused both Gandhi and Chief Minister Hemant Soren of misleading students over the issue. However, he insisted that the BJP stood firmly with the students.
The party’s agitation would continue over exam transparency and youth employment issues, Das said. In addition, BJP leaders reiterated their demand at protest sites across the state.
Party workers and students raised slogans against the government throughout the Hazaribag demonstration. Meanwhile, Soren engaged directly with a group of students during the day.
The chief minister heard the students’ concerns in person. He assured them of every possible assistance and appropriate action on the matter.
The BJP’s statewide campaign against the government has continued for weeks over the exam controversy. On the other hand, senior party leaders have also raised the issue in opposition criticism of the ruling alliance in recent months.
Separately, another case involving a senior opposition leader has also drawn attention to the state’s political tensions this year. Farmers and other groups have staged their own demonstrations in Jharkhand districts, echoing an earlier appeal from a former state minister.
BJP’s organisational activity has also picked up in other parts of the state, including a Baharagora meeting of party workers.
Raghubar Das has repeatedly targeted the government on the exam issue in recent weeks.
