Arjun Munda appeals to farmers of Kharsawan to not join protests

Jamshedpur: Arjun Munda, the Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, today reached Seraikela and addressed a meeting of farmers in Kharsawan East area. He called upon the farmers of Kharsawan to not be misled by the so-called farmers’ agitation and not to join it. He also charged the opposition parties to mislead the people of the country in the name of farmers.

Mr. Munda also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and said that only owing to the farsighted steps taken by him, the income of the farmers is likely to be doubled in the near future.

Holding the conspiracy of the opposition parties responsible for the unrest among farmers of a few states, he said that the farmers have been given wrong facts and information on the issue of MSP. He said that it is only due to the Prime Minister that the money from the central government is reaching 9 crore farmers of the country directly.

Talking about his own ministry, he said that MSP of more than 50 agricultural items would be fixed. He said that his ministry has already paid around Rs. 61 crore revenue to the state government. He said that out of that revenue, even Rs. 5 lakh could not be spent by the state government in the interest of the farmers of the state.

He assured the farmers of the state that he would do his best to pressurise the state government to take care of the farmers’ interests.

He also called upon the farmers to adopt modern methods of agriculture. Hundreds of farmers took part in the meeting.
