Jamshedpur Prodigies Shine in Jogga Inter School Chess Tournament

Young talents vie for top honors in JOGGA Inter School Chess Championship

Kadma’s Rishabh and Gagandeep Singh, alongside Baldwin School’s Rudransh, lead the pack in JOGGA Inter School Chess Championship after day one.

JAMSHEDPUR – The JOGGA Inter School Boys and Girls Chess Championship kicked off at JRD Tata Sports Complex, showcasing the city’s young chess talents.

The two-day tournament, hosted by Jusco School Kadma, commenced with four intense rounds of matches on Thursday.

"It’s inspiring to see such enthusiasm for chess among our youth," remarked Anup Kumar Singh, a local chess coach present at the event. "This tournament provides an excellent platform for budding players to hone their skills."

After the initial rounds, three players emerged as joint leaders with four points each: Rishabh and Gagandeep Singh from KPS Kadma, and Rudransh from Baldwin School.

Close behind the leaders, Aditya Sinha and Shubhranshu Malik from Jusco School secured second place with three points each.

The championship was inaugurated by JEM Foundation Administrator AF Madan as the chief guest, alongside senior manager Jiju Thomas as the guest of honor.

Several dignitaries attended the opening ceremony, including Jusco School Kadma Principal Jhumjhumi Nandi, JOGGA Vice President Firoz Khan, and District Chess Association Secretary NK Tiwary.

The tournament has drawn a significant turnout, with 206 participants competing for top honors this year.

As the championship progresses to its final day, chess enthusiasts eagerly anticipate more exciting matches and potential upsets in the rankings.

The event not only showcases individual talent but also highlights the growing popularity of chess among Jamshedpur’s school-going population.
