East Singhbhum: Biometric Attendance Woes for Teachers

DEO Issues Notices, Threatens Salary Cuts for Non-Compliance

East Singhbhum’s education sector faces scrutiny as teachers grapple with attendance system issues and salary delays, prompting swift action from authorities.

JAMSHEDPUR – The District Education Officer has cracked down on 29 teachers for failing to log their attendance in the e-VidyaVahini system, issuing show cause notices.

East Singhbhum’s education department is embroiled in a controversy over teacher attendance and salary payments.

The District Education Officer (DEO) has taken a hard stance against 29 educators who failed to record their biometric attendance from July 1 to 15.

"We expect prompt explanations from the teachers involved," stated a department source, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The affected educators, spanning both rural and urban institutions across the district, have been given a mere 24 hours to justify their non-compliance.

This crackdown coincides with an ongoing issue of unpaid salaries for para teachers in the region.

Despite clear directives from higher authorities, including Jharkhand Education Project Council Director Aditya Ranjan, to release pending payments, para teachers’ six-month salaries remain withheld.

"The delay in salary disbursement is causing significant distress among our para teaching staff," admitted a senior education official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The DEO has warned of potential salary deductions for the period of non-compliance, signaling a no-nonsense approach to attendance management in East Singhbhum’s educational institutions.
