Minor Girls Gang-Raped in Seraikela-Kharsawan, One Suspect Caught
Villagers Apprehend Accused After Victims’ Cries for Help

SERAIKELA – Two minor girls fell victim to a horrific gang-rape by at least three youths in Jojo village, Seraikela-Kharsawan district, late Wednesday evening.
The incident took place as the victims were returning from the Jagannath Mela, a local festival, in Jojo village under Sini outpost jurisdiction.
Perpetrators reportedly kidnapped the girls, who were walking alone, and took them to a secluded area where the assault occurred.
Alerted by the victims’ cries for help, local villagers rushed to the scene and managed to apprehend one of the accused.
The caught suspect, identified as Jiten Kurli, was reportedly beaten by villagers before being handed over to the police.
Two other suspects, Ganey Roy and Vikas Hembram, managed to escape and are currently at large.
SDPO Santosh Kumar of Seraikela confirmed that raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding suspects.
This incident has sparked outrage in the community, raising questions about the safety of women and girls in rural areas.
Local authorities are facing pressure to enhance security measures and prevent such crimes in the future.
