Panchayat Representatives Submit 8-Point Memo To Deputy Commissioner

Residents demand improvements to Chhota Govindpur water supply scheme after 3-day outage.

JAMSHEDPUR – A severe drinking water shortage has affected 2,200 houses across 21 panchayats in Parsudih, Govindpur, Chhota Govindpur, and surrounding rural areas for the past three days.

"Multiple leaks in main and branch pipes have disrupted water supply," stated a Zila Parishad Vice President Pankaj.

A delegation led by Pankaj and Dr. Paritosh Singh submitted an eight-point memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on Monday.

Key issues raised include:

– Lack of prior notice for 10-day maintenance shutdown

– Absence of necessary valves in the water supply scheme

– Incomplete project status even after seven years

– Allegations of corruption in project implementation

– Arbitrary charges by private plumbers

"The scheme lacks area-wise valves, causing widespread outages during repairs," Councilor Paritosh Singh explained.

Panchayat representatives proposed handing over operations to Tata Steel UISL for better management.

The Chhota Govindpur Rural Water Supply Scheme, initiated in 2015, remains incomplete despite significant fund disbursement.

This crisis highlights ongoing challenges in rural water infrastructure management around Jamshedpur.

Local authorities are expected to address these concerns promptly to restore reliable water supply.
