Monsoon-Themed Johar Haat Showcases Tribal Artisans from Jharkhand and West Bengal

The July 2024 edition of Johar Haat, facilitated by Tata Steel Foundation, commences at Prakriti Vihar, Kadma, featuring tribal artisans from Jharkhand and West Bengal.

JAMSHEDPUR – The July 2024 edition of Johar Haat, organized by Tata Steel Foundation, begins on July 14 at Prakriti Vihar, Kadma.

This cycle focuses on the Monsoon season, highlighting its significance in food availability, crop cultivation, and medicinal plants.

The monsoon season is vital for tribal artisans, influencing the design, production, and marketing of their products.

The cultural and symbolic importance of the monsoon is reflected in the motifs and designs of tribal handicrafts, showcasing their connection with nature.

Tribal communities also emphasize food and home remedies as immunity boosters during this season.

Artisans from Jharkhand and West Bengal will participate, representing six tribes: Kharwar, Mahali, Oraon, Munda, Sabar, and Santhal, with a total of 20 participants.

Workshops on bamboo jewelry making and sessions on tribal textiles will be featured, along with tribal cuisine offering snacks to enjoy the monsoon evenings.
