JNAC Under Fire For Slow Action Against Illegal Constructions

Only 35 Of 1146 Identified Buildings Face Penalties In Five Months

Critics allege selective enforcement as owners employ tactics to evade regulations.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has been receiving criticism for its slow response to the issue of illegal constructions that were identified in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the Jharkhand High Court.

Out of a total of 1146 marked buildings, only 35 have faced any action in the past five months.

"The actions appear to be sporadic and focused, resulting in many violators going unpunished," expressed a local activist.

According to reports, it seems that some owners are trying to hide commercial spaces by making them look like parking areas in order to avoid being noticed or investigated.

Krishna Kumar, the Suburban Commissioner of JNAC, reassured, "We will not tolerate any illegal constructions and will take strict action."

Kumar made it clear that action will be taken against all marked buildings in the order that the orders were issued.

Many critics believe that it is important to take a more organized and structured approach in order to effectively tackle the widespread problem of illegal buildings.
