Local business leader proposes three options to improve connectivity for Jamshedpur residents
Mukesh Mittal highlights long-standing demand for direct rail link to Rajasthan.
JAMSHEDPUR – Mukesh Mittal, former Vice President of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, proposing the restoration of train services between Tatanagar and Jaipur.
Mittal, who is also the President of East Singhbhum District Marwari Sammelan, offered three suggestions to address this long-standing demand:
1. Extend trains 12403 and 20403 (Prayagraj-Bikaner) to Tatanagar
2. Reroute one of the existing Howrah-Jaipur trains via Tatanagar three days a week
3. Introduce a new Howrah-Jaipur Duronto Superfast Express via Tatanagar thrice weekly
"A large Rajasthani community in Jamshedpur has been requesting this service for years," Mittal stated in his letter.
He emphasized that Tatanagar station is the highest revenue-generating station in South Eastern Railway.
Mittal highlighted the economic contributions of the Rajasthani community to Jamshedpur.
"It’s unfortunate that despite their significant presence, there’s no direct rail link to Jaipur," he remarked.
The letter noted that previously operated Shalimar-Jaipur train via Tatanagar was always at full capacity.
Mittal pointed out that current trains from Tatanagar to Delhi are overbooked for months.
He expressed hope that this demand, pending for 75 years, could be fulfilled during Prime Minister Modi’s third term.
Copies of the letter were also sent to local MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and senior railway officials.
This proposal aims to improve connectivity and facilitate easier travel for Jamshedpur residents to Rajasthan.
The suggested routes would benefit pilgrims visiting sites like Khatu Shyam Ji and Rani Sati Dadi.
