Night Patrols To Safeguard Trains During Monsoon At Tatanagar

Railway Engineering Team To Monitor Tracks From 10 PM To 6 AM Starting July

Initiative aims to prevent accidents caused by rain-induced soil erosion under rail lines.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tatanagar railway authorities have announced the resumption of night line patrolling from the second week of July to ensure safe train operations during the monsoon season.

A dedicated team from the Tatanagar Railway Engineering Department will conduct nightly patrols from 10 pm to 6 am.

"Our patrolling will cover the stretch from Tatanagar station to Salgajhuri cabin in the east and Jugsalai crossing in the west," a railway official stated.

The initiative aims to monitor and prevent incidents such as soil sinking under rail tracks during heavy rains.

Patrolling teams will be equipped with walkie-talkies to report any track faults promptly to station duty staff.

The Railway Board has provided safety gear including raincoats, shoes, caps, and torches to over 3500 line duty employees.

"This equipment will ensure the safety of our gangmen, pointmen, and gatemen during rainy conditions," the official added.

Line duty railway employees have been instructed to wear bright jackets over uniforms for enhanced visibility to engine drivers.

This measure is part of the railways’ comprehensive monsoon safety strategy for the Tatanagar region.

The night patrolling initiative underscores the railways’ commitment to passenger safety during challenging weather conditions.
