Preparations Begin for Jharkhand Assembly Elections

Voter list revision campaign commences, targeting new and special category voters.

Preparations for the assembly elections in Jharkhand have begun with a voter list revision campaign starting from Tuesday.

RANCHI – As per the Election Commission’s directives, the voter list revision campaign has started and will continue until July 24.

This campaign aims to add new voters and ensure the accuracy of the voter list.

State Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar provided several guidelines during a recent review meeting with district election officers.

A special campaign will be conducted on July 27 and 28 to register voters over 85 years of age, disabled individuals, and residents of shelter homes.

The voter list revision process involves Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducting door-to-door verification.

New voters, particularly those who turned 18 by July 1, will be added to the voter list.

Efforts will also be made to reorganize polling stations and rectify discrepancies in the voter list.

Individuals can apply to update or change their photo quality during this period.

The campaign will also focus on removing duplicate and deceased voters from the list.

According to the Election Commission’s instructions, the integrated draft voter list will be published on July 25.

Following this, the resolution of objections and claims will take place, with the final publication of the voter list scheduled for August 20.

Additionally, a campaign for the registration of third-gender individuals and sex workers will be launched on August 2.

These comprehensive efforts aim to ensure a fair and accurate electoral process in the upcoming assembly elections.
